Disgusting But True
Hi guys.
This post took me a few days to write. I honestly just couldn't believe it.
Recently in the Japanese newspaper a hospital in Kumamoto happily announced its inspired idea. You see, in Japan, where the abortion rates skyrocket, instead of introducing proper birth control, they make what's called Baby Post. Resembling something like a large video return slot, Baby Post is supposed to invite unfit parents to anonymously ditch their baby. Can you imagine? A baby return slot! What's troubling is that no one seems to think there's anything wrong with it!
Apparently this type of system has already been operating in countries like Germany. But...come on! It's a bit sick isn't it? Especially as someone in Japan recently made use of it by "donating" their 3 year old. A 3 year old! I'm not a child person, not at all! But it hurts to think that someone would leave their child in such a way.
This system is supposed to promote not having an abortion and population growth. Recently the statistics of people having children in Japan have decreased dramatically. Which is hard to believe as I see more pregnant women here daily than I ever did in my home country. While those are tangible reasons, why not birth control, proper education (someone stop these Japanese women who drink and smoke while they're pregnant please!!) and a proper adoption system. With all these unwanted children and their current excruciatingly difficult adoption process, how are they making it better for these children who are being left behind? *Sigh* I guess that's not a statistic they're keeping track of...

Baby Post, coming to a hospital near you...
Something for the Vegans
Well, another "What were they thinking??" drink has entered Japan. Cause let's face it, only in Japan could they think Cola and Cucumber together makes a good match.
Pepsi's Ice Cucumber came out this week on June 12th. It's said to be around for a limited time but if it's popular, who knows. It's pale green color should be enough to throw anyone off though.
For the sake of the blog, I decided to have a go. The smell at first was a little off-putting. There is definitely a distant veggie smell.
As for the taste...well I wouldn't say it's very good. But it's ok. I probably won't be buying it again. Think Pepsi Blue with a bit of a candied cucumber aftertaste.
Further on the topic of Pepsi, it struck me as odd that in my travels in this country. I have seen probably 7 different types of Pepsi but never just the regular Pepsi or Diet Pepsi. What's up with that? With their strive to create new and crazy drinks they seem to have forgotten about the basics.
